So join us and lay the foundations for brilliant trailing.
What the Course is...
...a deep dive into how dogs trail, why they do it, and how you can trail with confidence and understanding.
Over 12 weeks, you’ll get...
A new module every Monday (shared in the Theory private Facebook group)
An interactive live session each Monday evening for Q&A, reflection, and discussion
Weekly knowledge checkers, reflection questions and practical “homework” to help you apply what you learn
A supportive community of like-minded handlers learning alongside you
This isn’t a sit-back-and-watch course. It’s practical theory — designed to help you get more from every real-world trail.
This course is for beginners - no previous experience needed.
It’s perfect if you:
Are curious about mantrailing and want to understand the theory before hitting the trail
Have started practical sessions but want to really understand your dog’s behaviour
Want to build stronger communication and teamwork with your dog
Like learning at your own pace, but with guidance and community support
All breeds, all people, all backgrounds welcome - just bring curiosity, a sense of humour, and a love for your dog.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a clear grasp of:
How dogs use scent and why mantrailing builds confidence and focus
Key principles like scent picture, motivation, and search patterns
How your handling, energy and body language affect your dog’s performance
How to read and respond to your dog on the trail
The science behind scent work and how it translates to behaviour
How to build trust and partnership through communication and understanding
Each week builds on the last — taking you from “What is mantrailing?” to “I know exactly what my dog’s telling me.”
